How can we be so sure the PB10-NSD is that good? Well
there's no shortage of contenders in the PHP45,000
price-class, and we've tested them all. And ALL of them
fall well short of the PB10-NSD, especially down deep where
sub-woofers are supposed to be good. With just the
features you need, and hands-down the most impressive bass we've
seen at this price, you no longer have to settle for "OK"
performance. More than ever, this sub redefines value for
the budding enthusiast, and is quite simply unmatched, often
even if you had spent several times as much. Allow your music
and movies to come alive, without killing your upgrade budget.
SVS 10" NSD Woofer
An exclusive in-house design, and hand-built
in small batches of a few hundred at a time, one look will tell
you this woofer means business, with its huge synthetic rubber
surround, and high tech materials at every turn. Go ahead and
try to find a 10" woofer with half this performance, durability
and quality, even if you want to spend far more. Now you don't
have to. Taking a few engineering cues from its larger 12" NSD
and Plus woofer brothers, you'll see an industry standard
aluminum basket, but virtually every other component custom
designed for and by us. Dual spiders for superior excursion, NBR
surround, and an US sourced voice-coil. Even a synthetic rubber
mounting gasket for clean cosmetics (something the first 10" ISD
woofer wasn't too big on). Looking at it, or better yet,
experiencing its power, you'll know we strove for unprecedented
performance first, not the lowest price. No audio brand today
pours more time, or technology and care in building into a
woofer. What sort of driver is in your
sub?

300 Watt RMS Built-In BASH
Amplifier

This
high output digital switching amp was designed by SVS in
partnership with one of the most capable and largest original
equipment manufacturers in the world, Indigo Manufacturing,
inventor of the famed BASH subwoofer amp technology. Built
in Canada to exacting standards seldom seen in this price class,
its rugged, clean layout and serves as a perfect compliment to
your PB10-NSD. Once again, hundreds of man-hours were
expended dialing in performance that perfectly mated this
powerhouse to the cabinet, woofer, and venting system.
With features like a super thick aluminum front plate,
over-capacity heat sinking, custom equalization to optimize the
frequency response, and a special infrasonic filter to protect
the woofer below the ultra deep tuning point, this amp is an
integral part of the SVS performance system. Naturally,
our own logo graces this amp as a reminder that no other
subwoofer manufacturer has one just like it. And since you can
only get this amp on the PB10-NSD, you won't see it floating
around the various do-it-yourself e-tailers either. Isn't
it nice to know your amp was made just for your sub?
Don't let the conservative real-world power rating deceive
you. Given our proprietary woofers and the exceptionally
efficient SVS box design, the SVS PB10-NSD can embarrass other
subwoofers touting thousands of watts. The only thing as radical
as this amp's performance is the fact we do all this at such a
reasonable price, but still flush fit the amp to our custom poly
wrapped "no-seam" cabinet. Only the design team at SVS is this
committed to making your sub something to be proud of the minute
you pull it out of the box. One look at our soft-touch
rubberized control knobs, gold plated input and thick detachable
power cord says a lot.
With a single fixed input (requiring a Dolby Digital receiver
as your system's "front end") we were able to include nice
touches like defeat-able auto-on, that detachable power cord,
continuously variable phase, user accessible fuse and most
critically, LOADS of power. Conservatively rated at 300
watts RMS, this is one amp you can count on to provide years of
accurate, deep and powerful bass. Get the BASH advantage
on your SVS now.
More on BASH
BASH® is a proven class of amplification, answering the
market needs for efficiency without compromising sound quality.
BASH® is a patented "High Efficiency Linear Amplifier" circuit
topology that has taken the best of Class D and Class AB and
created a new Class of its own. By combining a fast response
power converter with a linear amplifier, BASH® is able to
maintain both class AB sonic performance and class D efficiency.
BASH® can produce high power levels without cost penalties
typically associated with conventi onal
amplifier designs. A linear amplifier rated at 100 Watts should
be able to deliver 20 Watts continuously. If the same amplifier
is to play musical transients that are 10dB louder than its
rated power, the amplifier must be able to deliver 1000 watts
dynamically. To deliver such dynamic power would require the
internal power supply rails to be 300% higher, and the resulting
power dissipated at 20 watts output to be 350% higher resulting
in increases to heat sinks, power transformer, bulk capacitors,
output devices and ultimately increases the cost.
BASH® provides customers new solutions, opens new markets,
offers greater flexibility, and ultimately reduces the cost of
amplification.

Front firing cabinet with
compliant floor fittings
When
it comes to floor and room interface solutions, SVS easily has
the "other guys" beat. The woofer and port are both front
firing from a common baffle (a whopping one inch thick!). An
internal CNC'd brace makes the large panels solid as a rock. The
narrow profile and front firing design allows you to tuck your
PB10-NSD into tight spaces, with only the power cord and input
cable clearance as a consideration. Underneath, you'll find the
PB10-NSD comes with threaded, removable, ultra-compliant
synthetic rubber feet. And not just four as you might expect,
but six to maximize stability and allow you to put this sub on
any sort of surface. You can remove these costly fittings if you
want to slide the PB10-NSD around a carpeted room to experiment
with different locations; and either reinstall them when you're
done or run without them, they are "blind" airtight fittings
even when the feet are not used. Simple, elegant, just the sort
of features you expect from SVS.
With the competition, you can expect things like and exposed
woofer hitting thick carpeting and/or plastic spiked feet
vibrating on hard surfaces (requiring furniture cups or a throw
rug to quiet things down). SVS digs deep to ensure you won't be
making ANY apologies for your PB10-NSD. We know it's a bit
old fashioned, but SVS believes in offering the highest quality
components at a fair price, rather than cutting corners just to
increase profits. Given thousands and thousands sold all over
the world, we think we're on the right track.
Precision Tuned High-Flow Port
The PB10-NSD employs a computer-designed and
patented high-flow, low-noise, dual-flare port that is made just
for SVS. This port is the industry standard in high
efficiency vented subwoofer systems, and features a huge new
3.5" inside diameter (ID), gently flaring to a nearly 6" at the
outside. These high flow flares allow the port to breathe
with the effectiveness of much larger competitive solutions - is
it any surprise we use them? We even take the time to have
the port flush mounted (using CNC machining of course) into the
PB10-NSD cabinet. Perfectly fitting foam seals are
carefully applied by hand in our factory to ensure it is snug
and performs like a high end audio component should. At
this price point, you'll only get this level of attention and
detail from SVS.
Custom Finish and
Color-keyed Grill
For some folks, the way a sub looks is often as important as
its performance. With the PB10-NSD you give up neither
world-class performance or simple, elegant styling. The
removable grill covering our exclusive woofer and adjacent port
is one of the many little touches defying the affordable price.
Take a look at the chrome steel pins for fastening the grill to
your sub (vice the typical cheap plastic fittings you have
seen before on other brands). With or without this cover
in place, your SVS is one hot looking "entry level" sub.
We won't tell your friends and family it was so affordable if
you don't!
Response Curve

Quasi-anechoic frequency response:
Standard smoothed data measured with high resolution
instrumentation (1/60th octave) via "ground plane" technique,
outdoors, at two meters' distance, a minimum of 70 feet from
reflective boundaries .
Note: In-room extension, with corner
placement, will typically yield 3-5Hz greater linear extension
than indicated. Results will vary based on room size, seat
distance from your SVS, and subwoofer location. Graph not
meant to depict maximum playback SPLs which will result from
setup in your unique room.
