The SB12NSD:
Size still matters with subs. But with a new amp,
new woofer, new cabinet and grill treatment ... size
matters less than ever. SVS Sealed Box subs won't
replace our big Ported Boxes, nor the space saving
Ported Cylinders.
But the "SB" subs will largely
replace every similarly sized sub at multiples of our
factory direct pricing. Prepare to let size stun
you. SVS got small.
This is a new generation of SVS
bass. |
 |
Looks, quality,
performance are evident in every part of this sub.
It's no accident. At SVS we
consistently use the best, NOT the least expensive suppliers
when designing and building a new model. Be it the swanky
grill, or the incredibly new amp technology, they are all
results of 3 years of tireless work with the top audio suppliers
around the world. Pick up an SB12NSD grill, examine it
close, and you'll see it has soft rubber grommets affixed to
ensure quiet, resonance-free operation, even at high sound
pressure levels. Precision metal work like we demonstrate
is rare in today's audio industry.
Dig deeper and
you'll see our latest generation, hand built SVS 12" NSD woofer,
and of course the new 400 watt DSP controlled amp with full
crossover (defeatable), variable phase, custom finish and
detachable power cord. Go ahead and compare this kind of
quality with products at virtually any price. No
surprise, the new SledgeTM
amps have more guts, more control, more reliability. Fewer
gimmicks, more beef. That they cost us more, and that SVS
uses them anyway is just the sort of thing we're known
for of course.
True story: Our
staff TRIED to kill one of the early STA-400D samples and gave
up during the 2010 CES in Las Vegas. SVS's factory manager
have the SB12NSD prototype 30 seconds' listen and made it quire
clear "this was no SB12Plus." And remember, we
loved that old sub.

|
The latest woofers use loads of Plus-derived
woofer power, including the custom stamped. SVS woofers
are only made by or exclusively for SVS under our engineers'
supervision and QC.

Suffice it to say we've gotten over our first small sub's
success, the departed SB12Plus. Now with state of the art
audio DSP, fine tuning from our engineers have blunted the
impact of physics ... this new small subwoofer is so
flat, so deep and so powerful you might even question why bigger
subs exist.
Better than even we expected it to be, the
SB12NSD keeps the legendary neutral and balanced SVS sound with
flat response. And just under 14" on all sides with grill
off. DSP guts, SVS woofers, slick new enclosures and
grills. Pity the overpriced boutique subs.

Why a micro?
A million small reasons. Performance is now one fewer.
SVS is one of the few brands that will
tell you this: If you can "afford" one of our bigger subs ...
from the standpoint of the larger floor space requirement ... by
all means, consider something of a similar price class, such as
the PB12NSD or even one that's less expensive like the PB10NSD.
If you need room rattling power, the
ultimate depth, AND want a small footprint too? Then our
exclusive space-saving Powered Cylinder subs should be on your
short list to evaluate. Even if perfectly designed, no
truly small sub like the SB12NSD will compete with an equally
well-designed large subwoofer (particularly if it's one of our
super-efficient vented subwoofers such as those mentioned just
above).
We can however outgun anything in
the world of small subs when you consider both size and price.
We'll be blunt, there is no sub that is less expensive that is
better, and few in this size class half as good at twice the
price. Schedule a listening session and be forever spoiled
for quality bass. Experience a sub 10 years in the making.
